Getting a Larger Number of People to Like Your Facebook Page

by James Steele

At first, everyone thought Facebook would be nothing more than another Myspace. Even if it looked like it could be fun, everyone believed it wouldn't last. Everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon, as with all things people believed were only flashes in the pan. There are plenty of ways to sell and market goods and services on Facebook. You have the option of direct advertising or building a "fan" page for your business but the latter will afford you more opportunities. You can let people know what you are doing with your business through a fan page and also use it to establish personal connections. There are lots of reasons to have a fan page. First, though, you need to convince people to "like" you. This is how to achieve that.

Make prodigious use of Facebook's "share" button. Once in a while put up some type of content or a picture on your fan page and send it out to your fans. Ask people to share the content you have uploaded with their own fans and friends. New people will discover you this way and they might be encouraged to like your page. Imagine what the results would be if people liked your content so much they keep on sharing it. That one piece of content can keep working for you for weeks or months.

Blast your email list with a message. Make sure to inform them of your fan page on Facebook. Insert a link to your page in the email and ask them to "like" you. You may want to offer them an incentive to do this. Consider putting together a contest and encourage them to write comments. You could offer people a bonus if they mention the newsletter when they like your page, which means you will know exactly what freebie you need to send them. It doesn't need to be anything major as something small should suffice.

By linking your accounts on Facebook and Twitter, when you make a post on Facebook, it will show up on Twitter and when you put up a message on Twitter, it will appear on Facebook as well. This shows the people on Twitter that you have a Facebook page and they might be tempted to take a look at it and to become a fan of it. Another interesting thing here is the character count. If they want to read the full update and it's longer than 140 characters, then your Twitter followers will have to click on it and go to your Facebook page. You'll get lots of traffic this way and if your updates are valuable, they'll like you so that they can keep up with all of them. There are lots of motives for which you should build a fan page for your products, yourself and your business on Facebook. It's an excellent way to show people what is going on with your company. Of course you won't be able to do any of this if you don't get people to "like" your Facebook fan page. Implement the tips in this article to start growing your base of followers. With a little bit of imagination and a lot of hard work you should be able to think up plenty more.
